How Big Cat Botanics Developed and Tested Three Unique Kanna Lozenge Batches
At Big Cat Botanics, we believe customers deserve more than generic extract claims and marketing buzzwords. When we decided to create our first line of Kanna-infused hard candy lozenges, our goal was simple: develop a product that combined great flavor, consistent dosing, and transparent laboratory testing.
What started as a single idea eventually evolved into three unique Kanna lozenge batches: KHC-KL1, KHC-L003, and KHC-DKL.
Starting with a Premium Kanna Extract
Every batch began with the same Mesembrine-rich Kanna extract. Rather than relying solely on supplier specifications, we submitted the extract for independent laboratory testing to verify its alkaloid content before production began.
By testing the source extract, we established a baseline that would later allow us to compare the finished lozenges against the original material used during manufacturing.
Small-Batch Production
Once the extract was verified, production began.
Each batch was handcrafted using our hard candy manufacturing process and carefully infused to promote consistent alkaloid distribution throughout the finished lozenges. Every piece was designed to deliver a reliable serving size while maintaining the flavor and quality standards our customers expect.
Because botanical products naturally vary from batch to batch, we assigned a unique batch number to each production run.
Testing the Finished Product
One of the most important decisions we made was to test not only the source extract but also the finished lozenges themselves.
Many products on the market are tested only at the extract level. We wanted to verify that the alkaloid content remained consistent after manufacturing and that the finished candy accurately reflected the source material.
The results confirmed that our production process successfully preserved the Mesembrine-rich alkaloid profile of the original extract.
Three Unique Batches
KHC-KL1 – Extended Supply Batch
KHC-KL1 – Verified at 2.491mg Mesembrine per lozenge
KL1 was produced as our largest batch and packaged in a larger format designed for customers seeking an extended supply.
This batch features a Kiwi Lychee flavor profile and maintains the same Mesembrine-dominant alkaloid profile found throughout our tested product line.
KHC-L003 – Premium Tested Batch
KHC-L003 – Verified at 3.828mg Mesembrine per lozenge
L003 became one of our most extensively characterized production runs.
Additional laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of supporting Kanna alkaloids alongside Mesembrine, providing valuable insight into how the extract profile was preserved throughout the manufacturing process.
Packaged in a limited quantity, L003 represents our commitment to transparency, testing, and quality control.
KHC-DKL – Limited Sample Batch
KHC-DKL – Verified at 4.552mg Mesembrine per lozenge
DKL was developed as a premium sample offering and features one of the highest measured Mesembrine concentrations among our Kanna lozenge batches.
Its distinctive Dragon Fruit, Kiwi, and Lychee flavor combination, along with its unique leaf-shaped design, make it one of the most recognizable products in the collection.

Why Batch Testing Matters
No two botanical production runs are exactly alike.
By assigning unique batch numbers and conducting independent laboratory testing, we can provide customers with meaningful information about the products they purchase. Instead of relying on generalized potency claims, customers can review actual data associated with specific production runs.
We believe this level of transparency helps build trust and allows customers to make more informed decisions.
Looking Forward
The launch of KHC-KL1, KHC-L003, and KHC-DKL represents an important milestone for Big Cat Botanics.
As we continue developing new botanical products, our commitment remains the same: small-batch production, third-party testing, and transparency whenever possible.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Big Cat Botanics and helped make this project possible.
We look forward to sharing future batches, laboratory results, and product developments with the community.
